Apple Pay at checkout
How to turn on the Apple Pay button for your customers — what you need first, what happens when you activate, and how to switch it off.
Apple Pay adds a one-tap payment button to your checkout page. A customer paying from an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch confirms with Face ID, Touch ID or their passcode, without typing the card number, the expiry date or the security code.
It is not a new processor
Apple Pay does not take payments on its own: it hands RedBox the card the customer already had saved on their device, and the charge is still made by your own Azul account. The money arrives the same way, in the same place, on the same terms. The only thing that changes is how much the customer has to type.
Before you start
- An active paid licence. Integrations unlock with it.
- The
Manage integrationspermission on your user. - Your Azul integration already configured, with its Merchant ID saved. If you do not have it yet, start with Online payments with Azul — Apple Pay cannot be activated without it.
What happens when you activate
Unlike other integrations, activating Apple Pay is not just flipping a switch: RedBox registers your business with Apple at that moment.
Go to Integrations → Apple Pay
If the tile is greyed out and says Requires Azul, it is because you do not yet have the Azul integration configured.
Read and accept the terms
Tick the box. The Activate button stays disabled until you do.
Press Activate
RedBox registers your domains with Apple and only then turns the button on at your checkout. If Apple rejects the registration, the integration stays off and you will see why — it never shows as active without actually being active.
If activation fails
The error message comes from Apple. Try again in a few minutes; if it persists, contact support. There is nothing to configure on your side: the certificates and the registration are managed by RedBox on your behalf.
After activating
Customers on Apple devices will see the button automatically at checkout. Those without a compatible device continue to see the normal card form — nobody is left unable to pay.

Switching it off
On the same page, press Deactivate. RedBox removes the registration with Apple and the button disappears from your checkout. You can activate it again whenever you like; you will need to accept the terms once more.
